Final Reflection

1.) Over the course of the semester, this class has been a roller coaster full of highs and lows. I found some assignments very enjoyable and others I dreaded. For example, I really enjoyed coming up with my idea to fit a need. I had never done anything like that and it was the first time I had been excited about solving an issue that was related to school in a while. On the other hand, there were many circumstances that I really hated doing assignments for this class. I disliked completing interviews the most because they were time-consuming and it was hard to find unbiased subjects.

2.) My most formative experience has to be my idea of the "Eco-Shredder." I truly believe that this invention could help eliminate plastic waste in our world by a huge percentage. I am definitely proud to have thought of the bigger picture(Environment) when picking my problem to solve because at the end of the day all of our little problems are so irrelevant it isn't funny.

3.) To answer question three I would say that I didn't develop any skills. This class simply gave me a much better idea of what entrepreneurship is. Once I was better able to understand the principles and concepts of this class I was able to allocate the skills I already had into a better entrepreneurship mindset. This class broke down what it means to be an entrepreneur and I will take what I learned into wherever I go in life.

4.) A recommendation that I would make students that take this class into the future would be to learn as much as possible from people that you admire. Watch what they do and say and apply that to your own life. You cannot expect to grow in life without the aid of others. For example, I like to watch Elon musk when he talks. Musk is a genius and I use him as a role model in my life.

  1. Hey Kerry!
I liked reading through your reflections of the course. I too enjoyed coming up with the initial idea to fulfill a need in the market. Identifying the needs of others can often be just as important as actually coming up with a way to solve the need. I think your advice to learn from people you admire can be very useful. Often people in the field you are interested in or important figures can lend their steps on how they reached success. However, I'd add that their are many routes to success and some may work better for you than others. Good luck with all your future endeavors!

  2. Hey Kerry! I agree that your idea of “Eco-Shredder” was great, and I wished that it actually existed in this world. Even though you stated you didn’t develop any skills in this course, I’m glad to hear that you learned what it means to be an entrepreneur, and you were able to have an entrepreneur mindset. You’ve given great advice to future students! Good luck in everything else you do!
